When Mr. O P Bhatt became chairman of State Bank of India in 2006, the Indian banking sector was experiencing massive change. Several private and foreign banks had entered the market with their “Anywhere, Anytime Banking” model. SBI on the other hand was a public sector bank which hadn't evolved much in 50 years and SBI has lost significant market share.
In order for SBI to transform Mr. Bhatt along with a Illumine Consulting created and implemented a strategy named “Parivartan”, which means “Transformation of people”. This program sensitized everyone at the bank that there is a need for change and this training program brought new energy across the bank. Along with this, he started a campaign “Citizen SBI” i.e. every employee of SBI is the citizen of SBI. The quintessence of it was to develop a deeper sense of inner satisfaction amongst the employees and build motivation amongst them.
As part of this program, One Story was tasked to create a series of films for its internal audience base which translates the Citizen SBI ideology a narrative stories. Films which can be felt by anyone and the concepts easy assimilated and emulated
These films were showcased across SBI's 1000 branches and various management conclaves and became an integral part of the transformation journey.
In 2008, SBI became the most valuable bank in terms of market capitalization in India and The Banker Magazine awarded SBI as “The bank of the year 2008 - India”. It also improved its ranking in “Fortune” 500 Global List, “Forbes” list of 2000 largest companies in the world, “Banker” list of top 1000 world banks and many such more milestones.
